Power Outages

Our power grid is made up of a series of switches, breakers and fuses that divide the distribution line into many small sections. This reduces the number of people affected by a line problem. This equipment will interrupt power in the event of a fault. Most faults are caused when trees, animals or lightning come in contact with the power lines. Our personnel must clear the line before they can be re-energized.

Each individual has a transformer at their service entrance. This transformer reduces the voltage of our distribution lines from 7,200 volts to 120/240 volts for your individual energy uses. Each transformer has a fuse that works much the same as our distribution line switches. If something comes in contact with the energized equipment on your farm or at your home it will trip the fuse on the transformer causing the transformer to lose power. Our service personnel will come out, fix the problem and replace the fuse to restore your power.
